UPA’s Southern Green Finishing Top Coat is specially formulated for
quality hand and machine finishing of plasterboard joints.
Encompassing a ready-mixed non-asbestos vinyl formulation, it is used
for embedding joint fibre tape, for filling and for final touch-up coats in
interior plasterboard applications. It is an ideal compound for covering
embedded fasteners, corner beads and for skim coating panel
surfaces where necessary.
Applications
UPA Southern Green Finishing Top Coat should only be applied onto dry
surfaces. Apply thoroughly and allow each coat to dry before applying
any further coats.
i) Joint Finishing
For joints between panels, fill with compound using 150mm (6”) blade knife.
Embed the tape and press in with knife. Remove any excess compound and then
apply thin even coat over the tape. Apply a second coat at joints and fasteners, smoothing out 50mm beyond first coat and allow to dry. Apply final thin finishing coat to joints and fasteners if required and let dry.
ii) To Finish Inside Corners
Apply compound to both sides (150mm blade knife). Fold tape along centre and
press into position. Embed the tape with knife. Remove any excess compound and
then apply an even thin coat over the tape. Apply a second coat on one side and allow to dry. Then apply coat to the other side in a similar fashion. Apply a final thin finish then smooth the finished coat.
iii) To Finish Outside Corners
Fasten metal corner bead directly onto drywall. Similar to above applications, apply 3 coats of compound.
